I did a post titled Green Succulent on 11/11. It was a macro image of a Hens and Chickens succulent in a boot planter.

A couple of viewers requested that they would like to see the whole planter.

Today's post shows the entire recycled boot that is used as a planter in the garden.

It also made a unique display by the doorstep and on the steps.

It was interesting to see this hardy garden plant used in another setting - and it adapted itself quite well.

  3. Hi Kathy,
What I want to know is what have you done with the other one, or is there some one legged person very happy with the remaining boot.

    Cheers Mark

  4. This is cute! Here is Arzona, many folks like to use old cowboy boots as planters. Since they are tall, they don't make the best recepticle for cacti or succulents, which is what would look the best in my view. I usually see them with gazanias.
    Happy GTS,

  5. Haha Mark!

This was my sister's great idea, and knowing her generous heart, she probably filled it the same way and gave it as a gift!

  6. Aiyana, I can just picture a tall cactus in a cowboy boot - it sounds pretty neat to me!

  7. I usually like macro photos better -- but in this case, I almost prefer the full view. The lighting was good and the boot certainly is humorous.

I'm sure there are some old boots around here that need to be thrown out... I know what I'll be doing with them next spring!! :)

  10. What a cool idea! I guess almost any container would make a good planter once you make some holes on the bottom.
