Corn Overload

It is corn season here in New England, and the scrumptious sweet ears can be found piled high at veggie stands and supermarkets throughout the area.

corn on the cob macro

Nothing tastes as good as fresh picked corn, so my family has been indulging in this treat for the past couple weeks.

We will have had enough shortly and will be all too eager to welcome in the next season: APPLES! I love them even more than the corn!

  1. Gosh Kathy, what a super photo - I thought it was beads, they are so uniform and shiny. :)

You're lucky getting fresh corn. I tried growing it once but our climate was useless. Of course now that the weather is milder, it may just work.

  4. I saw this corn in your food collection, and when I finish eating your fudge, I almost tried the corn, but I was full by the time I finished the whole dish of the fudge lol. Excellent photo! Anna :)

  5. Soon I'll be visiting Wisconsin where a distinction is made between sweet corn and field corn. The sweet corn is for the humans and it is recommended that you walk into the fields, pick the corn, go straight to the grill or boiler, cook and eat. But sometimes I skip the last part of the plan and just eat it right off the cob while I'm still in the field.

Oh yes, the field corn is for every other creature.

  8. We live a block from a cornfield in a middle of a suburb. The harvest there is almost over. The crows have swarmed in to eat any leftovers.

  9. Darn it, I shouldn't
    have looked at that
    lovely photo. Now
    I'm craving some corn
    on the cob, and it's
    5 AM so there's no
    place open where I
    can get any.

  10. That photo made my mouth water! We recently left the land of corn, Illinios, and moved to Texas. We were just talking the other night over dinner about how much we miss that wonderful fresh corn we could be direct from the farm stand. Nothing tastes so good!
