Smoke Over the Pond - My World

Smoke Over the Pond - My World

little white flowers in the spring

This was my world yesterday, May 31.

There are over 55 forest fires burning up in Quebec, Canada, which is about 250 miles away from us.

We awoke to the whole outside filled with smoke, which we thought was haze.

But when we opened the front door, the smoke smell was quite overwhelming.

The smoke hung around for the most of the day, and just before sunset, a warm front came through and the winds shifted the air back up towards the north, clearing the smoke from our area.

Many of the communities in the Quebec region have been evacuated, and they hope to have the fires under control by tomorrow.

This is the first time I have ever experienced this, and I can only imagine what it must be for the residents in those areas.

We will pray for their safety with the most minimal of damages.

  1. Fires are so scary. They are a part of life here, we only hope that they are contained quickly and no one gets hurt. I did hear about your fires up there...hope it is under control soon.

  2. Isn't it amazing how far the wind can blow smoke? A few years ago a large fire was burning in south GA and we experienced the smell here in the northern part of the state.

Prayers to those affected by this fire. Sure hope they are able to get it under control.

  3. A friend of mine in Vermont shared a similar experience the other day. Amazing, Nature ... and yes, I pray that little disruption is felt by those residents near the actual flames.

  4. Kathy, we were @ the beach on Monday, and around 4ish, we too, saw, what we thought was fog...on the drive on the way home, while listening to the Boston news station, we got our answer..once we arrived home (about 50 minutes from the beach to Providence) we could smell the smoke as well...we too pray for the residents of the area for their safety, w/, as you say, the most minimal of damages...
