Three Lily Pads
We arrived at the pond just a day or two too early. The lily pads were beautifully spread out atop the water's surface, but the water lilies had not opened yet.
This one looks like it is going to be a yellow one instead of the white ones we usually see. I wasn't able to get back there before it passed to get some more shots of it in bloom.
I used a polarizer to remove the reflection from the surface of the water. It allowed the lens to "see" the grasses and roots under the water.
I was balancing on a couple of thick sticks that were jutting out of the water onto the land. The water wasn't deep, but I really didn't relish the thought of sinking into the muck with my boat shoes.
What we do to get things just right in the viewfinder!
BEAUTIFUL!!!!...perfect...my Etsy shop for my jewelry is 'lilleypad'!

Absolutely stunning photograph!! :)
ReplyDeleteI think lily pads are pretty, but I am nervous of them because sometimes the alligators hide under them!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun to get just the right shot? Love the lilly pads - it was worth waiting for the perfect moment. I posted a foto today with that same theory. Fun fun. Happy day. *huggies*
ReplyDeleteKathy , simply awesome, I am going to look into various filters for my camera, polarization is one of them, another is infrared.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Amy!
ReplyDeleteThanks, White!
ReplyDeleteOh Daisy, that makes me nervous too - but we are lucky enough to not have any of those up here!
