Pussy Willows
These were taken this past spring - soft willow buds that we grew up calling pussy willows.
They only last a couple of days before the leaves begin to emerge and cast off their soft furry shell.
We loved them as kids, and I still look forward to them each spring.
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI like these plants. I like to see them with Cat Tails.
ReplyDeleteWe will usually use this to decorate our houses especially during the Lunar New Year (Spring Festival for Chinese).
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are always beautiful but the one of the Pussy Willows reminded me of a quick story. I worked for the University of GA and my director (female) received a floral arrangement with Pussy Willows among the flowers. She took the dead sticks out and decided she wanted to root them. We were always pulling jokes on everyone so I saw this an opportunity to get her good. I took a needle & white thread and made some "roots." When she saw them she was so excited telling us she knew they would root. I knew then I was in trouble so over time I had to start removing "roots" before she realized what I had done. At her retirement dinner I gave her a Pussy Willow plant and told the story. She laughed until she cried.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the memory
Martha
Hi Martha - that is hilarious and a fond memory for her also. It's good to see you - thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteHi Auntie E - I just recently found out what the cat's tails are. Will try to find some next year!
ReplyDeleteHi BK - Sounds like these little buds are found everywhere! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteKathy my favorite too. As kids we used to collect them a lot. I also planted one on the backyard, but then it got sick when grew to full size. Planting them is so easy, just putting cut branch into the ground will do the job. Anna :)
