ABC Wednesday - B is for Boat

B is for Boat..........

a stray boat against the side of the dam

Stranded under some downed trees in the swim area earlier in the summer, this abandoned row boat managed to get itself freed.

The very slight current that keeps the water flowing over the top of the dam brought this little boat to it's edge.

Luckily the floating buoy line kept it from going over the top.

It was half filled with water from the holes along it's side, and a storm eventually blew it back over within reach.

We pulled it on land, and the next time we went down to the lake, it was gone.

Perhaps the owner rescued it, or the town had it removed before somebody tried to use it.

We'll never know but hopefully it was fixed to be enjoyed again.

Chives and Ant - Our World

Chives and Ant - Our World

purple chives and an ant

Purple chives in the garden during the summer.

When I went out in the morning to grab a few pictures, they had many ants crawling over them.

They were interested in the water or dew that had collected on the blooms during the night.

As soon as they were dry - the ants were gone.

ABC Wednesday - A is for Abstract

A is for Abstract..........

a design in the ice made by dripping water

Dripping water made this little piece of art in the ice.

It was water all the way down the center.

When it froze over at night, the darkness disappeared in the middle as the whole area became white again.

Kind of a cool abstract made by Mother Nature herself.

The start of this ABC Wednesday begins round 10 of this popular meme.

Enjoyed by all, we thank our founder Mrs. Nesbitt, and her team, for keeping it all together for us!

Iced Branch

Iced Branch

a branch covered in ice against a blue sky

Winter has finally arrived.

With the temperature to be below zero for the next couple of nights, the hard ice is sure to stick around for a few days.

Keeping warm inside is the goal for the day.

Some baking will keep it extra toasty.

And a movie in the evening with the fleece throw tucked in around the neck sounds great to me!

Customer Disappointment

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

The older customers that use the Walgreens pharmacies for their medicines are very upset these days.

They now have to get their medications through the mail.

And many of them know how that goes.

It gets lost or delayed.

Perhaps it even gets stolen as it is easy to tell when medications are in a package.

And they are very worried that no will be looking out for them.

Walgreens and Express Scripts will no longer be partners when it comes to prescriptions.

And since many people have Express Scripts as their prescription provider, they will no longer be able to get their medicines at their local Walgreens.

They love their pharmacists who take the time to look for medicine interactions and answer all their questions.

To help them, there is a Prescription Savings Club at Walgreens that will offering a special discount on it's annual membership plan.

Hopefully it can help ease the transition for them.

This parting of ways between the two companies also affects the military as their prescription provider is Tricore, which is a client of Express Scripts.

Concerned customers can contact their local media to let them know how they feel.

ABC Wednesday - Z is for Zone

Z is for Zone..........

a construction zone of a bridge

This construction zone has been this way for over a year now.

This bridge spans the Great Bay between Dover Point and Newington.

The bridge in the fore ground is the "new" one that has been in service for about 25 years.

The green one behind it is the old one that was banned to all traffic once the new one was opened.

It will be used for foot traffic once it is made safe.

FYI - when Google maps was made - they didn't include this bridge in their map configurations.

They would send travelers from Dover all the way around the bay, through Maine, then up along the other side of the bay to get them to Newington.

It made national news when this was discovered - we all had a good chuckle over that little oversight.

It was a good thirty mile plus trip around for those who weren't familiar with the area for what is just a quick drive over a bridge.

Outlet Under the Dam

Under the Dam

outlet under the dam

Any other year at this time, this scene would not be possible.

There would be so much snow.

And the cold would have the water froze up solid.

But not this year yet.

The lake isn't frozen, and the water is still drizzling out the side outlet of the dam.

It has been a strange winter to be sure.

ABC Wednesday - Y is for Yoga

Y is for Yoga..........

a blue yoga mat and weights

A new activity for me - Yoga.

I started it back in October when the swimming for the season had come to end.

It has only been a couple of months, but the flexibility and balance I have gained feels so good.

I use a couple of videos I picked up, and I have a long way to go to ever get close to performing the poses the way the instructor does though.

But she is also at least half my age, so I don't have any misconceptions that I will ever be that flexible.

If you are looking for a gentle way to get some exercise, I would highly recommend Yoga - just take it slow and easy at first.

Ice Covered Leaf - Our World

Ice Covered Leaf - Our World

a leaf covered with ice on a branch

A scene from last winter - it was a record setting one for ice and snow amounts.

We have not had a scene even close to this photo this year.

Most of the precipitation falling out of the sky has been rain.

Which is really strange for New England - we are known for our snowstorms.

There are no complaints on this end though - the less snow the better!
