ABC Wednesday - K is for Kelp

K is for Kelp..........

large kelp seaweed under the dock

It's kind of hard to see in this image, but if you look closely, you will see the kelp seaweed under the water.

We were standing on the dock, and it kept swaying back and forth - one minute it would be there, the next it was gone - hiding just below our feet.

Kind of like a giant monster playing a game with us.

The polarizer on the lens took the glare off the top of the water so the camera could "see" under it.

It's not a clear shot, because of the water, but you can't miss it is there.

When it stretched out, it was quite long, gracefully dancing with the current of the sea.

It was attached to one of the pillars holding up the dock - wonder how long it will stay there.

Autumn Clouds Reflection - Our World Tuesday

Autumn Clouds Reflection - Our World

autumn trees and clouds reflecting in the lake water

I have joined a new meme for this post.

For the past couple of years, I have posted in the My World Tuesday meme.

It was ended earlier this summer as the person who ran it, Klaus Peter, passed away.

Continuing in his tradition with this new meme, Our World Tuesday was begun about five weeks ago.

My first post shows our lake in the autumn in all her spendor.

She is beautiful in all seasons, and fall is my favorite.

Please join us in this mew meme by clicking the graphic below - all are welcome to visit us in Our World!

ABC Wednesday - J is for Jabber

J is for Jabber..........

a rust colored cat taking a nap

We have had a visitor these last few days.

Our 21 month old grandson.

It has been such a joy to have him here - playing and caring for him.

One of his favorite things to do - stand in the door and jabber to the kitty on the porch.

Rusty squints his eyes in appreciation of the attention then curls back up on his pillow to take a nap.

A passing bee then catches the little boy's attention, and he is off jabbering again about his find.

We are going to miss him when he goes home tomorrow.

But that just gives us a reason to take a trip up to see him and his Mom and Dad.

ABC Wednesday - I is for Ice

I is for Ice..........

ice on a hood ornament on a truck

It will be here soon enough this snow and ice.

But not until the beautiful autumn season has passed.

We are still swimming at the lake - extending our summer as long as we can.

It will all be happily remembered when this emblem on the plow truck is once again covered with snow and ice.

Get Back to Uploading

Get Back to Uploading

tall feathery grasses against a blue sky

The summer had been pretty busy, and this fall is starting to look even busier.

I haven't had much time to dedicate on uploading new images to my photo website as I am always using my computer and it slows way down when I do uploading.

The uploading takes a back seat, and the images that need to get onto my site and the stock sites are piling up.

I am going to try to make of point of uploading a few each day - whether it be to my site or one of the stock sites.

Never enough hours in a day!

ABC Wednesday - H is for Herbs

H is for Herbs..........

basil on a drying tray

This herb is my most favorite.

And this year's harvest will be the best I have ever had.

Basil - so fragrant and delicious.

I love to grow it, harvest it, dry it, use it in many dishes, and best of all, smell it.

Doesn't this look like a lot of it?

I had four trays of it in the dehydrator, so you think I wouldn't run out each year.

dried basil on a drying tray

But this is what it looked like after it dried,

And once it is de-stemmed and crushed up - there is very little of it.

I will be harvesting my crop in the next week or two - I like to let it grow as long as I can.

My house will smell so good as it dries!

The Next Generation

The Next Generation

a small foot bridge in the early morning fog

My son is taking a photography course for one of his college electives this semester.

And I think I am more excited than he is.

He has asked for my help, but it isn't just the whole subject matter that has me excited.

I get to spend time with him.

Not too much of that goes on these days.

School, a couple of jobs, and a girlfriend takes just about all the time he has.

So when he asks for help - it will the first thing on my list to do.

Passing on all we can to the next generation - it's the best!
