ABC Wednesday - F is for Fireworks

F is for Fireworks............

a firework display in the dark

Did you guess what my "F" word would be this week?

Since I had been posting about being at the fire works for the last few posts, it was just perfect to use one of the images for the "F" post.

Now, I have tried in vain over the last few years to capture fireworks with my camera, but they have only been so-so at best.

Well, this year I finally had some success.

I'm am not sure exactly why, perhaps it was because we moved to new location to watch them - a bit farther away rather than right under them.

Whatever the reasons, I was quite pleased with the results.

This was the first one of the night, and when I looked at it in the photo - it reminded me of a Tiki Torch.

It didn't looked like this in real life though.

The camera caught the trail of the firework as it was shooting upwards, and I must have stopped taking the photo at just the right time to catch the explosion before it completely burst out.

Kind of cool, I think, and in the next post I will explain how I actually took the photo and the settings I used.

This is the seventh round of ABC Wednesday. If you would like to join in please visit this site for the details.

  1. Perfect shot!

I like watching fireworks from farther away. Too close, and it becomes too hazy.

  2. I think it´s a great Firework shot !
Not easy to take picture on firework I know by trying myself :)

  3. I love your Fireworks picture. I have never had any success at taking pictures of Fireworks. I will go now and look at the other pictures you mentioned.

  4. Capturing fireworks must be so difficult, yet you have done so! As ever, a wonderful post.

    Thanks so much

  5. I find capturing firework photos extremely frustrating. They lose something on TV too.

  6. Spot on! It looks so easy... but I know it is not!
    Great post for F!
    Best wishes,

  7. I like this - and you're right - it does look like a Tiki torch. I've had mixed luck (bad to worse) capturing fireworks so it's nice to see good ones here.

  8. Hi wow, you captured it just in time ... nice one.

  9. Kathy excellent capture. We had some here for Canada day, but it was a bit windy, so left lot of streaks. Oh well may be next time, I still have to figure out the prefect settings. On the side note, hope all is well otherwise. Anna :)

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment - it is appreciated! I will do my best to return it with a visit to your blog. Take care, and enjoy!
