Indian Paintbrush - My World

Indian Paintbrush - My World

orange indian paintbrush wildflower

Since we were kids, we always referred to these bright little wildflowers as Indian Paintbrush.

When looking it up online, I found that that particular wildflower grows along the western side of our country, and I am located on the east.

So, I am not really sure of the correct name for these little beauties.

Perhaps they are an eastern version, or perhaps not.

Either way, we will continue to enjoy them, and will call them by their real name once we discover what it may be.

Does anyone know?

  2. In one of my many flower gardening books Indian Paintbrush is listed as one of the names for Milkweed or Butterfly Weed. They grow in zones 3-9 and I have them here in the SE. I can't tell if your pretty flower is one or not. Here is the link I found http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asclepias . Maybe this will help you get an ID.
