ABC Wednesday - K is for Knife

K is for Knife............

hunting knife with a deer antler handle

This is one of the unique knives the boys have in their collection.

It is a hunting knife that was fashioned with a deer's antler for it's handle.

This knife comes as a kit, with an unfinished piece of wood that gets carved and shaped into a handle.

Instead of using what was supplied, the antler was fitted into the brass hilt to make for a most unique piece.

A piece of leather and rawhide lacing was fashioned into a sheath that fits the knife perfectly.

They have several other styles of these hunting knives, but this one is one of the most interesting and it makes for a great stock photo to boot!

This is the sixth round of ABC Wednesday. If you would like to join in please visit this site for the details.

  1. What a cool knife! My son collects reproduction weapons from WWII (we can't afford the real ones!). His uncle took him to a gun show last weekend and he came home with a reproduction Hitler Youth knife. Now, mind you, we are not NeoNazi's. I have been so into WWII history for so long that it kinda rubbed off on my son. There is just so much to learn from so many angles from WWII.

  6. Sadly, I can't see the picture, which is a pity because I do like knives!!

Clever of your sons to make the handle for it, though!

  7. Very nice knife...the handle looks as dangerous as the blade!
