ABC Wednesday - F is for Full and Frozen

F is for Full and Frozen............

the dam at the beginning of spring

This is the last in the series of dam photos I have been posting the last few days.

This photo shows the top of the dam, and for that time of the year, it was pretty full of water.

It gets lowered in the fall, and during the summer the water slowly falls over the top edge - especially when the boats kick up a wake.

There was still a bit of ice left on the frozen surface and that stuck around for another week or so before it went out.

The spring rains hadn't started before this photo, so the flowing water in the previous posts was pretty mild.

The flow really gets going once the rains come and fill up this little lake.

This is the sixth round of ABC Wednesday. If you would like to join in please visit this site for the details.

  1. Frozen is a good F-word. I should have thought of it. But I chose "feline" since I am only a simple ordinary cat.

  2. I wouldn't care to take a dip in that lake! I bet it's horribly deep as well as freezing cold!

On behalf of the team, thanks for taking part in ABC Wednesday this week! :)

  5. This reminds me of the river in the middle of our city. I need to go over and check it out. I bet it is beautiful right now. Cool picture you have here!

  6. Kathy, nice photo. I like our local damns too, they are small yet interesting, once I saw a line of geese sitting on the edge, and believe or not, no camera, lol. Anna :)
