Texture in the Ice
What caught my eye was the way the oak leaf had "melted" into the snowy ice in the backyard.
The darkness of the leaf had absorbed the warm rays from the sun, and it was slowly making an imprint of itself.
I didn't notice until I was processing the image that the snow had a most unique texture.
The week of rain and thawing has made the snow have an almost granular texture.

I love the little surprises that aren't always visible when I take the image and are discovered while processing them.

ReplyDeleteThat's one of the joys of photography, isn't it? Capturing those little details - while figuring out, through exposure, cropping, white balancing, focus, and gut feeling, the absolute best way to do it. It's a lovely shot.
