ABC Wednesday - Wishbone

W is for Wishbone.............

a wishbone isolated against white

I am not sure of the customs in other countries, but in the US, the wishbone has a tradition.

After it has been removed from the cooked chicken or turkey, it is left to dry.

Once dried, two people will make a wish and wrap their pinkie finger around each side.

They pull with their fingers until the bone breaks, and the person with the larger piece will have their "wish granted".

My kids used to love to do the wishbone, just as we did when we were children.

  4. Hello again - I loved the wishbone as a child, but hated to wait for it to dry to get my wish. I remember convincing my mom or dad to help me make my wish only to have it bend and not break. I invite you to come see my W if for woodpecker contribution. -- Margy

  12. I always like your ABC Wednesday posts, Kathy, because you have such a knack for thinking of something clever to photograph for each letter. The wishbone is perfect.
