Earth Day 2008 - New Growth

New Growth

new spring growth on a blue spruce pine tree

This Blue Spruce pine tree was the first tree we planted at our home over 25 years ago.

It has been transplanted and moved many times as it grew, and has been in its final location for over 15 years now.

The new growth each spring is a most beautiful shade of green, and by summer it has darkened to match the rest of the needles on the tree.

The little chickadees hide and flit around in her branches year round.

Some flower gardening and seed planting is on the agenda for this Earth Day 2008.

Will be planting some giant Sunflowers - need to keep those birds happy too!

  2. I love sun flowers, was actually thinking about planting some this year. Beautiful picture I love the way the light green stands out among the rest of the older growth. I bet it is a beautiful sight, don't you just love spring?

  7. I had to chuckle at your comment about moving the spruce tree several times. We had a Norfolk pine in a pot as our Christmas tree the first December after we moved into our house. We planted it outdoors after the holidays, but like yours, it had to be moved a couple of times, since it grew much bigger than we anticipated. Glad to know we're not the only ones who did that!
