The Flu has Arrived

The Flu

The flu has arrived at our house with a vengeance.

My son unknowingly escorted it through the door and it made his life miserable for over a week.

My husband was the next victim, and after four days he is still having the chills and sweats that go with along with the fever.

The coughing is wearing them out as it settles into their chests.

As the chief cook, caretaker, and comforter, I fear my days are numbered.

I'm hoping I can escape it with all the hand washing and sanitizing - but a scratchy throat has been nagging me all day. Time will tell!

  1. Take extra vitamins and echinacea, and get some extra sleep! Good luck, I hope you don't get it.

I have an award for you on my page, if you have the energy to come over!

  2. I hope you don't get it! Everyone I know that has had it has had a cough that lasted for weeks, even after they felt better.

My DH had it and I managed to escape... hopefully you'll be as lucky!

  3. Sorry to hear about your family's illness. I've been nursing a cough for the last week and haven't been able to sleep. Hope they get well soon and you don't catch it.

  4. Try Airborne if you take it early enough you shouldn't catch the flu - it helps in our house a lot between my daughter in middle school and hubby being a teacher those germs come marching in all the time. We take it at the first sign of feeling sick - sniffle or scratchy throat.

I've found Airborne at the supermarket and almost all drug stores - there is even a kids version. It's fizzy and warm and doesn't taste too awful - and made from herbs. Was invented by a school teacher to prevent cold and flu.

Hope everyone gets better soon and that you don't get it.

  7. Hi Kathy, great Idea for an image, just came off the flu, I missed 2 days of work, and I've only missed 1 day in the last 2 years, so you know it was bad.

  8. Thanks all for the well wishes - it has struck, and I thank the ibuprofen for a couple lucid moments before I'm out again.

Hope you all take care not to get it - this one is a bugger.

  9. I have the scratchy throat too, the kids had it first, hubby got it the worst and now I fear are my final healthy hours for a couple of days. We all had the flu shot so hopefully it won't be too bad. Good luck, I'll be thinking I'm not alone tomorrow :).

  10. I wont say I am immune to it, as I had a brief encounter for a day. chills, fever, sweats) but on day two i came out of it. Still a little weak though. Keep fluids n you!! Dehydration is the big problem with the flu! Hope everyone gets to feeling better!!

  11. Hope you have escaped! I get a shot every year--haven't had the flu since 1972. That one left me with a permanent loss of balance and I decided never to chance it again.
