Mushrooms

The autumn mushrooms are beginning to appear in our area.

small brown mushrooms in the autumn

We have had a really dry end of summer and fall season so far and the amount and kinds that are usually around have not come up this year.

We have some rain moving in the beginning of this week, so it should help bring the dampness that they need to grow.

These little ones were shot with the Tamrom 90mm macro lens. I didn't notice the bug on the little mushroom until I was processing the image.

They only last for a couple days at the most, though. When I went back the next day to get some more shots, they were already beginning to decay.

  5. Hi Kathy -

That's a wonderful shot -- you know I love macro! -- and your comment about the insect rang home to me. I've had that same experience of not noticing some tiny creature in a photo I took until after it was processed. That's one of the joys of macro photography.

  6. Lovely mushrooms! They are such beautiful "creatures".

No shrooms left here. Getting to late in the year.

  16. Wow, Kathy, lovely. I love mushrooms too. I have some photos too, and I almost posted one, because I did not have anything for this Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, but then I found this nice place full of pumpkins. Never seen these mushrooms before, and I really like the yellowish tint, it really adds to the fall collection. Anna :)

  19. Thanks, Cindy - I really wish they would last a little longer. I missed a big bunch of them all coming out of one center. They were really pretty, white, with big brown gills underneath. I was a day or two too late when I found them - but there is always next year!

  20. Good thing I didn't post my mushroom shot today - I'd have some stiff competition! Mushrooms are everywhere in my yard - sometimes they get to be about 6" across. I love wild mushrooms.
