Maple Leaves

After a very hot week with record setting temperatures, Autumn has returned this morning.

macro of red maple leaves in the autumn

The fall colors are vibrant this year due to the heavy rains we had this spring. I don't know if we will make it to the mountains this year, but I bet the colors up there are gorgeous.

I used a Moose's Polarizing filter with my Tamron 90 mm macro lens for this shot. The polarizer really enhanced the blues, as they are meant to do, and the reds were accented by the the warming filter that is built into it.

  1. What beautiful colors! We are having a nice suuny breezy day here. There are a few yellow leaves floating around but that is all.

  5. Thanks Anna - have you used a regular polarizer? I have always kept one on each of my lenses rather than the skylight filter.

I tried the Mooses one and I fell in love with it.

  6. Fantastic color, I don't think our fall will be as colorful as past seasons, but I am sure I will find something to shoot. Great work :)

  9. Kathy no I have not tried any type of polarizer? I guess when I got my SLR the bill was already too big, and when I got my 100-400mm lense, the same, could not add anything, probably would go banckrupt. I only have lens protector, lol. I will do some research, may it is worth getting. Anna :)

  10. Anna, the polarizers aren't too expensive. You might want to try one on your regular lens first just to see the differences. I use it as my lens protector. You will notice though, that you will usually need to adjust your exposure as it tends to make the images darker. An easy remedy for such a great tool!

  11. Stunning colours! Unfortunately, I don't get the autumn experience living in a sub-tropical climate.

  12. This is a great shot. It reminds me of home (Rochester, NY). It reminds me of the time of year I miss (as opposed to the winters I am glad to be rid of)...
